Introduction to Evaluation Online Workshop

Prefer to learn at your own pace, but also want an active learning environment?
Our engaging online course equips you with the knowledge and skills to start addressing these challenges. It is run by the NIHR ARC North Thames Academy (formerly the NIHR CLAHRC North Thames Academy). The course is aimed at staff in frontline services in the NHS, local government and social care organisations who have limited experience of conducting service evaluations.
Inspired by the content of our popular face-to-face evaluation course, you will gain the skills and knowledge to undertake your own evaluation of a local intervention or service and be able to appraise other evaluations.
Teaching is delivered entirely online by experienced health research experts, using real-world examples and practical exercises to help equip participants to apply their knowledge. You’ll learn by taking part in lectures and interactive activities; and participating in the discussions that accompany each step.
The course supervisors will be available to give you direct guidance on planning your evaluation. Our academics will also facilitate discussions amongst delegates, creating opportunities for you to seek feedback from professionals across a range of health and social care roles.
The course will cover:
Different types of evaluation, including their pros and cons
How to select suitable methods and approaches for evaluating a local programme or service
Practical skills and tips in using evaluation methods and approaches
Ways of sharing your evaluation findings to make an impact.
